Microsoft heeft op de E3 Media & Business Summit (E3) in Santa Monica (CA) in de Verenigde Staten bijna 30 nieuwe titels bekendgemaakt die de merknaam 'Games for Windows' dragen. Deze games zijn afkomstig van grote publishers als Activision, Bethesda Softworks en Midway Home Entertainment. Microsoft kondigde tijdens de E3 ook een sterke ondersteuning voor de Games for Windows - LIVE online service aan, in samenwerking met Eidos Interactive, SEGA of Americaen THQ.
Bovendien maakte Microsoft Game Studios zijn plannen bekend om dit jaar nog "Gears of War" en de populaire game "Viva Piñata" beschikbaar te maken voor Windows XP en Windows Vista.
"Windows gaming beleeft één van zijn meest succesvolle jaren ooit", aldus Peter Moore, corporate vice president van Interactive Entertainment Business in de Entertainment and Devices Divisie van Microsoft. "Door deze reeks van fenomenale titels, hardware en de snelle adaptatie van Windows Vista, zullen Windows gamers het najaar van 2007 herinneren als een keerpunt in PC-gaming."
Microsoft heeft zich voogenomen om dit najaar zijn beste Windows portfolio ooit af te leveren. Microsoft kondigt bijna 30 nieuwe 'Games for Windows'-titels aan en heeft daarmee dit najaar meer dan 60 'Games for Windows'-titels in de winkels liggen. Onder de nieuwe titels zijn de langverwachte releases "Crysis", "Hellgate: London", "Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures" en "World in Conflict".

Microsoft Game Studios staat op het punt om ‘Gears of War' en ‘Viva Piñata' aan het Windows-platform toe te voegen. Beide games zullen tevens beschikbaar zijn op Games for Windows - LIVE. ‘Gears of War' zal dit najaar verschijnen voor Windows XP en Windows Vista. De pc-versie heeft vijf nieuwe campagnes, een nieuwe multiplayer modus en een nieuwe game editor, die de creativiteit van de ‘Gears of War'-spelers zal uitdagen. ‘Gears of War' zal ook voordeel hebben van de DirectX10 graphics technologie, die alleen beschikbaar is voor Windows Vista.
Epic Games onthulde op de E3 de toevoeging van Games for Windows - LIVE integratie aan de zijn Unreal Engine 3. Deze toevoeging zal het makkelijker maken voor gameontwikkelaars die Epic's next-generation technologie gebruiken om voordeel te behalen aan Microsoft's online gamingnetwerk.
